Aunt Barbara’s Basic Layer Cake (Becky)

3/4 cup butter softened

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla ( I think she used almond sometimes

2 1/2 cups flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/4 cup milk

Preheat oven to 350

In mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat at medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Scrape the bowl frequently. Thoroughly stir together flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating at low speed after each addition. Turn batter into a greased baking dish of your choice, rounds or rectangle. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

Frosting:

Crisco

Mild regular or canned

Vanilla

Powdered sugar.

Aunt Barbara would sprinkle it with coconut.
