Swiss Bread (Mom)

Warm 1 ½ cups milk

add ¼ cup butter

In a bowl:

1 cup warm water

2 Tbsp yeast

1 Tbsp salt

¼ cup sugar

When milk is luke warm add to yeast mixture and add:

3 beaten eggs. Beat

7 ½ cups flour. Mix well and knead with mixer or by hand.

Cover and let rise until double in bulk (about 1 hour). Punch dough down and let rise again ½ hour. Punch down and divide into 3 pieces. Then divide each piece into 2 pieces. Roll each into long ropes. Place two ropes crossing each other (+). Then braid. Makes three loaves. Put each on large greased cookie sheet. Let rise about 25 minutes, then bake for 20-25 minutes at 375. Remove from pan to cool and brush with butter on top.
