Grandma Oleson's Fudge Frosting (Mom)

2 ¼ cups sugar

3 heaping Tbsp cocoa

3 Tbsp karo syrup

1 cup milk

Stir until boils. Put on lid and boil for 3 minutes. Take off lid and boil until soft ball. (you can hold the ball in fingers when dropped in cold water). Take off heat and pour into shallow bowl. Let cool. Beat frosting with large spoon or fork until thick enough to spread on cake. If it gets too thick add a little milk.
